Artists' Statement
I have a love/hate relationship with my home town, Toronto. During my
10 homeless years, I was able to explore the hidden underbelly of
Toronto and was awakened to a vision of life here that most people
never see. The mixed feelings which result are the inspiration for my
art, of which the subject is always Toronto. It is my hope that the
images which I have captured and created will inspire similar feelings
in my audience.I call my work Digital photoArt. It is photography based and digitally altered to reflect my artistic vision of the image. Curricula VitaeAlthough I have no formal training in art, I have always had a God given talent. As a student, I won several art contests and had a sculpture I created in grade 8 displayed at the Art Gallery of Ontario.Through the Toronto Board of Education's Continuing Education program, I learned digital photography and Adobe Photoshop and my creative instincts were rekindled. Thus began my career as a digital photoArtist. I have had several shows in galleries and other venues and sold numerous pieces. I have also been commissioned to do several photographic records of events. I was a participant in Photography and Story (a window on homelessness) and the work our group has produced was exhibited at the Nuit Blanche Arts Festival September 29/07 Several of my works have been sold at various fundraising events where the proceeds are shared with the artist and the charitable organization. Commissions... I am the official event photographer for the Sherbourne Health Centre.I have been commissioned to record the construction of several new developments for Plazacorp Condominium Developers.
